License Key Registration and Unregistration
Starting from SmartSignage 2.9.5, internet access is required for the registration and unregistration of the license key. If the PC using SmartSignage cannot access the internet, you can generate a registration request or unregistration request file and send the request via email from another PC. For registration requests, you can activate the license key by importing the received registration information.
Additionally, if you want to use the license key on another PC, you need to unregister the license key. Please note that uninstalling SmartSignage does not unregister the license key. Here are the steps to follow for this process.
NOTE: This section applies to Ver.2.9.5 and later.
License Key Input Section
The license key input is done in the settings.
- Click on SmartSignage, and then click on the in the upper control bar to display the settings.
- Click on “License Key” on the left side.
- The following section will appear. (In this example, the license key is not registered.)
The following instructions will be conducted in this License Key Input section.
In case of internet connectivity
If the PC with SmartSignage installed is connected to the internet, you can register and unregister the license key.
[Registration of the License Key]
Enter the license key in the input field. (You can also paste it from the clipboard.) If the entered license key is correct, the product name will appear in the upper right corner of the input field. The product name will be either “SmartSignage” or “SmartSignage +Plus.”
When you press the “Register” button, the license key will be registered, and “Registered License Key” will be displayed below.
[Unregister License Key]
Before using the license key on another PC, you need to unregister the license key.
- If the license key, which is partially obscured (#####), is not displayed, click .
- Click the license key, which is partially obscured (#####), and select “Unregister” from the context menu that appears.
- When the registration is canceled, “Unregistration License key was succeeded.” will be displayed.
In case of no internet connectivity
If the PC using SmartSignage is not connected to the internet, you will need to create a “Registration Request File” or “Unregistration Request File” and send it via email to Fukuneko Inc. from another PC. To create these files, you need to display the options on the license key input area.
To display the options, click on the right side of the license key input area.
Note: To hide the options, click in the upper right corner.
[Creating a Registration Request File]
- Click and select the “Create the Request of license key registration” radio button.
- Click and select the “File” radio button under the output type.
- Enter the license key in the input field for “License Key for Registration Request.”
- If you want to change the file output destination, enter the path for the registration information file in the file path input field.
By default, it is set toC:\Users\[UserName]\Documents\register.req
or/Users/[UserName]/Documents/register.req
. - Click the “Create” button.
- If the creation is successful, “The file of the license key registration request has been created.” will be displayed.
- By pressing , you can open the folder where the file is saved in Explorer or Finder.
- Using a USB memory stick or similar device, copy the registration request file (default is register.req) to a PC from which you can send an email.
Attach the registration request file to an email and send it to Fukuneko Inc.

If you selected “Text” as the output type, copy and paste the generated text into the body of the email and send it.Upon completion of the registration process, you will receive a reply email with an attachment.
By copying this attached file to a PC with SmartSignage installed using a USB memory stick or similar device and importing it, you can activate the license key.
If you are in an environment where you cannot receive attachments, you can use the string provided in the body of the email to activate the license key. For information on importing files, please refer to the following sections.
The content of the created file is identical to the string generated by selecting “Text.” You can save the string as a text file and use it as a registration request file.
[Importing the Registration Information File]
- Click and select the “Import the Information of the license key registration” radio button.
- Click and select the “File” radio button under the output type.
- Enter the path for the registration information file in the file path input field, or click to open the file selection dialog and choose the file.
- Click the “Import” button.
- If the import is successful, the options will be hidden, and the product type (SmartSignage or SmartSignage +Plus) will be displayed in the “Registered License Key” field.
[Importing the Registration Information String]
- Copy the string included in the email (starting with “——- Begin Registration Result ——” and ending with “——– End Registration Result ——-”).
If you received the email on another PC, paste the string into a text editor like Notepad and transfer the file to the target PC. - Click and select the “Import the information of the license key registration” radio button.
- Click and select the “Text” radio button under the output type.
- Click to paste the string. (If the string is not copied to the clipboard, will not be displayed.)
- Click the “Import” button.
- If the import is successful, the options will be hidden, and the product type (SmartSignage or SmartSignage +Plus) will be displayed in the “Registered License Key” field.
[Unregistering the License Key]
To use the license key on another PC, you need to unregister the license key. In an environment where you cannot connect to the internet, you will need to create an “Unregistration Request File” and send it via email to Fukuneko Corporation.
- In SmartSignage where the license key is registered, display the license key unregistration options.
- Select “File” for the output type, and specify the output file.
By default, it is set toC:\Users\[UserName]\Documents\unregister.reqor/Users/[UserName]/Documents/unregister.req

- Click the “Create” button, and “The file of the license key unregistration request has been created.” will be displayed.
- Click to open the folder where the unregister request file is saved in Explorer or Finder.
Attach the unregister.req file to an email and send it to Fukuneko Inc.
